Istanbul and Cappadocia tour covers the highlights of Istanbul and Cappadocia, It is also possible to add leisure days or excursions  at the beginning or the end of this tour. 

 

Day 1
After your arrival at İstanbul Ataturk Airport, we will transfer you to your hotel in the historical part of İstanbul (Sultanahmet).
Free afternoon and overnight in İstanbul.

Day 2
We will pick you up at about 08:30 in the morning for a full day İstanbul tour. The tour will start with a visit to Saint Sophia (Aya Sofya, Church of Divine Wisdom) which was built by the Emperor Justinian in the 6th century A.D and stands over much older remains of a church. See beautiful mosaics of biblical scenes and the Byzantine emperors and empresses. We continue to the Blue Mosque, which was built in the 17th century and is the only imperial mosque with 6 minarets, then we see the Hippodrome, a stadium and meeting place in Byzantine times, the Serpent Pillar from Delphi and the Egyptian Obelisk with the fountain of Wilhelm. The last stop before lunch is The Grand Bazaar, one of the largest covered markets in the world with more than 58 streets, over 1,200 shops. After lunch we will explore the Topkapi Palace, the home of the Ottoman sultans from the 15th-19th century A.D. We will also see the Imperial Treasury where the masterpieces of the Turkish art of jewelry from different centuries are displayed. We will finish the tour with a visit to Rustem Pahsa Mosque, one of the most exquisite Ottoman mosques in Istanbul.

Day 3
We will pick you up in the morning at about 08:45 for a  marvellous half-day Bosphorus cruise which will allow  you to see the Maiden’s Tower (Kiz Kulesi), Dolmabahce Palace, Ciragan Palace, Ortakoy, Fethi Ahmet Pasa Mansion, Ortakoy Mosque, Beylerbeyi Palace, Kuleli Military School, Arnavutkoy, Bebek and many other beautiful buildings on both sides of the Bosphorus. We will also see the Rumeli Fortress (Rumeli Hisari), which was built by Mehmet the Conquerer in 1452 during the preparations for his planned siege of Byzantine Constantinople. The afternoon is then at leisure until transfer to the Ataturk Airport for your flight to Kayseri. The flight from İstanbul to Kayseri takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. Our staff will meet you at Kayseri Airport and drive you to your hotel in Goreme/Urgup.

Day 4
You may start your first day in Cappadocia with a once-in-a-life-time experience --  a sun rise hot-air balloon flight which will open your eyes to the unique landscape of Cappadocia. After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel at 09:30. The first stop on your local tour will be at the Goreme panorama viewpoint where you will be given general information about the history and geography of Cappadocia. Then we will drive to Kaymakli underground city, one of the main underground shelters used by local Christians and five levels deep in the soil. Our next stop will be in Soganli where we will hike through the valley, visit the rock-cut Byzantine churches, and have lunch. Next we will visit the Sobesos excavations where we will see a Roman bath and mosaics dating back to the 5th century. Then we will drive to Taskinpasa Medresesi (Old Theological school) and Keslik Monastery. Finally we will visit Mustafapasa which is an old Greek village before driving back to the hotel.
Overnight in Goreme/Urgup.

Day 5
We will visit Goreme Open Air Museum to see some of the best examples of Byzantine art in the frescoed rock-cut churches of Cappadocia which date from the 10th to 13th centuries. Next we will drive to Pasabag to see the mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys and the rooms inside them,  and to Devrent Valley which has rock formations in the hsape of animals. After lunch we will stop in Avanos to see traditional pottery-making.  Then we will hike in the Rose Valley to burn off our lunch. We will finish a wonderful day at the top of Uchisar Castle which is the highest point in Cappadocia.

Transfer to Kayseri Airport for an evening flight back to İstanbul.

Accommodation can be arranged for guests who wish to stay an extra night in Cappadocia and leave in the morning for İstanbul.

 

        The rate of Istanbul & Cappadocia package is 625 Euro per person. Single supplement is an additional 190 Euro.
